Pro Numb is pleased to present Sickly Revelations*, a solo exhibition by John Lawrence. Sickly Revelations* forms part of a wider project that has previously been installed at Oriel Davies Gallery, and travels to the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, Sunderland, later in 2016.
The on-street light-box commission, 'Chateaux Double Wide series (Chamber Aide)', has been produced by London based Zoe Williams and will launch on the opening night of the gallery exhibition.

Sickly Revelations* is a project across moving-image, sound, object and print by London-based artist John Lawrence.
Centering around a single-channel video work over three ‘acts’ the installation aims to question the shifting position of the individual within a greater, technologically infiltrated system of mediated experience.
As an unseen narrator banally describes his home cinema set-up, with audio/visual equipment seen strewn across the floor, a feedback loop of production, consumption and flawed connectivity becomes pronounced.
Objects appearing on screen, either as printed photographs or clunky 3D digital captures, are also present within the space, as well as being represented on the gallery’s facade.
Sound design for the project has been produced by musician Mark Good and a gallery text has been commissioned for Pro Numb by Dr Cadence Kinsey.
Further texts by John Bloomfield, Rachel Wilson, Niki Russell and the artist will make up a parallel publication to coincide with Sickly Revelations*’ next iteration at the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, Sunderland, where it will open in July.
'Chateaux Double Wide series (Chamber Aide)' is taken from a series of still images conceived by Williams initially for Chateaux Double Wide, a collaborative project hosted by herself and artist Urara Tsuchiya as part of Glasgow International Festival 2016.
The images were presented as posters, projections and promotional material as well as being printed within a limited edition magazine called 'Private Life' which accompanied the project. This particular image shows one of Williams’s ceramic works within it.
Chateaux Double Wide used the basement of a bar called Avant Garde in Glasgow to act as an amorphous lounge, bar and club for people to use over the festival.

Zoe Williams lives and works in London. She graduated from the MFA at the Glasgow School of Art in 2012.
